A passenger onboard Air Canada flight AC56 from Toronto to Dubai opened a cabin door and fell to the tarmac before takeoff on Monday evening.

On Tuesday night, a passenger on an Air Canada flight set to depart from Toronto Pearson Airport to Dubai suffered severe injuries after falling about 20 feet from an open cabin door.

The incident occurred as the Boeing 777 prepared for Toronto Pearson International Airport takeoff. The departure of Air Canada flight AC56, scheduled for around 9:35 pm for the 11-hour journey to the Middle East, was delayed by over six hours due to the serious incident on Tuesday.

Air Canada confirmed that, during boarding flight AC056, a passenger who had boarded usually opened a cabin door on the opposite side of the aircraft instead of proceeding to their seat while the aircraft was at the gate.

As a result, the passenger fell to the tarmac, sustaining injuries, and emergency services and authorities were summoned.

Air Canada stated that the flight, intended to carry 319 passengers, experienced a subsequent delay and took off later than planned.
